2025 Blue Ignition Coil for Briggs Animal 12,000 RPM Engines

555681-NS 2025 Animal ignition coil. This is the 12,000 RPM blue coil for Briggs Animal engines.

It raises the rev limiter from the green coil’s 6150 RPM cap to 12,000 RPM. That is the whole point of this part. The green 555718-NS coil is the restricted LO206 piece. This blue coil is the open / Animal limiter.

Same family as the new-style Briggs coils, including the blinky LED. That light gives you a quick visual that the coil is firing, which saves a lot of guessing in the pits when a motor will not light.

Blue housing. Confirm your class rules before you bolt it on. If your class is locked to the green 6100/6150 coil, this one is not legal.

Q: Will this work on a stock LO206?

A: It will physically bolt on and it will raise the limiter from 6150 to 12,000 RPM. Restricted LO206 classes use the green 555718-NS coil. Check your rulebook before installing.

Q: What is the difference between the green coil and this blue coil?

A: Green coil = 6150 RPM limiter for restricted LO206. Blue coil = 12,000 RPM limiter for Animal / open use.

Q: What does the blinky LED do?

A: Same idea as the new Briggs coils. The LED flashes when the coil is firing so you can see ignition activity without pulling a plug wire. Tech is suppose to have a tool that can supposedly read this signal, have yet to see it.

Q: Is it plug-and-play?

A: Yes. It wires into the stock harness. Swap it, set the air gap, and go.

Q: Should I put a new plug in with it?

A: Yes. Put a fresh plug in when the coil goes on. You will get a cleaner burn and a better read on whether the coil fixed the miss.
