Smoker Performance Gear System

Rotational inertia reduction. Saves approximately 100g in most setups. Simulator-proven measurable performance gain. Highly recommended for any LO206 chasing tenths.

The Smoker Performance gear system is the lowest rotating-mass setup on the market. This is the ticket for sprint track racing. Every simulation we have run shows a NET GAIN, end to end.

It is also the source of the historic "a gear ratio is just a gear ratio" debate. We will admit it - at one point we were on that train ourselves. The moment you factor in the rotational inertia difference between a 70-tooth steel rear sprocket spinning a #35 chain hanging off the edge of that gigantic gear, the truth behind the argument shows up in the data. The gear ratio is the same on paper. What spins to make the kart move is not.

Titanium hardware is strongly recommended. Lightest, least rotational weight, and the right choice for rotational-inertia reduction.
Smoker Performance precision gear system. Start with the 54-62 range for the 52-58 tooth sweet spot.
Real woven carbon fiber, precision lightening holes. Lightest guard available. Size is based on sprocket tooth count. Part of the full 15oz Smoker Performance system.

PETG plastic alternative to the Carbon Fiber Sprocket Guard. Weighs approximately 15 grams more than carbon fiber. These are designed to break when you bottom out — protecting the hub — and act as a sprocket guard at the same time. Recommended strategy: race with the Carbon Fiber guard, practice with the PETG version. Also a smart spare to keep on hand as a replacement for the carbon fiber guard. Add as many sets as you want - pick a color first, then choose the size.

Maintenance Add-Ons

Essential maintenance items for your engine:

Equipment Add-Ons

Guards & Drivetrain

Choose a chain guard option. Details update when you select one.
Choose a Catch Can. Imperative that your pulse vent is routed correctly without obstruction.
Choose a chain.
For other brands of hubs. Not compatible with Smoker Performance Hub — if you have selected the Smoker Hub above, skip this section.

Engine Fluids & Setup

The life of your engine. 32 oz per bottle. Use 12–16 oz per oil change. Change oil daily (sometimes twice on heavy practice days). Cases save more per quart.
Universal 72" ball end. Follow install manual for routing to throttle pedal.
Always pre-filter fuel when pouring into the tank - keeps debris out of the carb. Change filters regularly.
Genuine Tygon (yellow) stays flexible year-round - never hardens. Change yearly. 4 feet recommended for a new engine install. Tip: Cheap fuel lines harden over winter and can lock up inside the tank, causing the engine to miss in corners.

Clutch

Step 1 - Choose your clutch:
We will recommend things that are recommended - if it's something needed for performance, whether the gain is marginal or significant, we will always mark it the same. To us, marginal gains is marginal gains, that's the name of the game! Optional: Add a clutch and include the optional accessory assembly at the end of this package and we will blueprint the clutch and set engagement for you. Remember, there is no single optimal setup - it changes track to track. Optimal clutch engagement depends on rear axle speed. This is why we ask where you're racing and why it's important to fill out and email the build sheet.

Data Acquisition Package

Read this before skipping data acquisition

Data acquisition, and onboard video provided by the SmartyCam where you can bounce around your split-time report, is the single most important upgrade you can have at the track. If you are going to start saving for one upgrade, save for the SmartyCam first.

The top professional karters in the world still review their SmartyCam footage daily. This is something kids can study any time of day and refer back to throughout the week. It is far cheaper and faster to find online coaching when you have onboard data and video to review together.

SmartyCam 4 Corsa release: data drops May 10. In-USA stock by approximately May 14 (tentative). Pre-pay for SmartyCam 4 Corsa now, they will sell out quickly.

AiM data acquisition turns feel into facts. PLUS adds front and rear wheel speed for setup analysis. PRO adds SmartyCam video with throttle and brake trace overlay. Pro accessories such as the camera, sensors, batteries, and 250Hz logger are available on Basic and Plus packages too if you want to start lean and grow.

Flow Bench Service - Carb and Head

Highly recommended performance gain. We know there is more in this carb than the cam profile. Every dyno and every simulator confirms the LO206 is air-starved across the entire torque window. Marginal gains is the name of the game, and this is one of the largest "marginal" gains available on this engine. Upsell yourself, your competitors already have.

How it works. We use a paired ABA reversal protocol (sometimes called ABA back-to-back testing): we measure your carb (A), measure our calibrated baseline carb (B), then re-measure your carb (A) again. The reversal cancels drift in the bench so the published deltas are purely the difference between the two carbs. Every test concludes with a full re-setup of the bench.

What you receive. A shared document with low RPM, mid-range RPM, and high RPM flow numbers for every carb tested. We then confirm the bench-reported deltas hold up on a potential motor head (or the dummy head) before signing off.

Logistics. If you have multiple carbs at your shop, ship them all. The more carbs we run back-to-back in one session, the better the comparison. Email support@swiftkarting.com with your shipping notice. If flow bench was paid, we hold testing until any other carbs you indicated have arrived so everything runs in one session.

NDA. Flow bench service requires you to sign an NDA. Client agrees that Swift Karting, LLC is the sole owner of all data and results from said tests, and that results will not be shared or posted publicly.

Dyno Service and Engine Verification

Performance verification. The two real performance gains on this engine are filling out the engine sheet accurately and a flow-benched setup. Dyno time confirms the work. Add as many credits as you want.
Each credit is one hour of dyno time. Your first credit includes 15 minutes of break-in time and full engine performance verification. Add more credits the same way you add flow bench credits to compare configurations or chase setup over a session. Maximum 40 credits per order.
Performance Accessory Assembly +$175

You already get a tuned engine with every race, dyno, and mathematically-proven update built in. Would you like us to fit your accessories track-ready as well? You add oil and go.

Highly recommended. We install your clutch and exhaust header (with proper sealing on the exhaust manifold), safety wire the exhaust, mount the motor and header wrap, run the pulse line correctly, install the exhaust support, set engine clutch engagement, and finish with the correct final torque sequence — all assembled our proven way. The +$175 also covers the additional shipping and packaging cost for the larger box required when the exhaust ships pre-installed.

After signing up, you will receive a build-sheet email. It is very important that you answer every question carefully and accurately. We use those answers to pick the right base cam profile and the right assembly settings to start with.

MC Engines Blueprinted LO206 Package (New Style Coil)

⚠️ REQUIRED: Engine Build Sheet

Because this is a personalized build based on your class, weight, and track, you must fill out the build sheet.

Download MC Engine Build Sheet (PDF) →

This is our complete LO206 race ready package, built with the same careful process used for national-level customers. As a premier LO206 engine builder, we deliver a fully blueprinted Briggs & Stratton LO206 engine designed for maximum legal horsepower.

Every engine begins with a full cam profile measurement as soon as it reaches our bench. We hand-select cam profiles based on your specific class (Adult Slide, Junior, Cadet, or Kid Kart) along with your racing weight and home track.

What You Get: The MC Engines Blueprinting Process

  • Hand-Selected Components: Internal parts are hand-picked and matched to your class and weight.
  • Cam Profile Matching: We measure and select the optimal cam profile for your specific application. Very important you fill out the engine build sheet, and get it to us. You can copy the text to a email, and email it as well to support@swiftkarting.com. We can't do much without answers to our questions about your home tracks, etc.
  • Carburetor Tuning: Fully disassembled, built from optimal parts, and tuned for your class.
  • Flow Matched: Air path from carb-to-intake and intake-to-head is matched for smooth flow.
  • Precision Valve Work: Ground for stable sealing and repeatable performance.
  • Head Decking: Lightly decked for proper sealing, improved chamber volume, and better CCS.
  • Ignition Optimized: Timing is carefully squeezed from legal areas for maximum mid-range power.
  • Dyno Tested: Every engine is verified for power and reliability before shipping.

Internal Component Selection

Throughout the build, we hand-pick individual internal parts to create the most consistent engine possible. Certain components are screened so tightly that roughly 70% are set aside. Only the best flowing and most consistent parts are used. This attention to detail improves reliability and repeatability on race day.

Carburetor & Intake Tuning

Each engine receives a fully tuned carb system. The carb is disassembled, and we choose the most optimal pieces to build it with for your class and weight. Once assembled, we tune it for clean throttle response and stable power. We then match the flow from carb to intake and intake to head to create one smooth, predictable path. All procedures stay strictly within the Briggs LO206 rule structure so everything remains legal.

Ignition & Timing Optimization

Ignition timing is another area where we gain performance legally. We squeeze timing from the allowed areas to reach an optimal number for your class and weight. This step helps the engine pick up stronger in the mid-range and stay more consistent deep into a long heat cycle.

Cylinder Head & Valve Work

Valves are precision ground to maintain sealing through multiple race days. During cylinder head preparation, we lightly deck the head for clean sealing and to prevent gasket leaks. This process also improves chamber volume and CCS, giving the engine more consistent power while staying inside the rules.

Dyno Verification (Proven Gains)

We dyno test every engine to ensure strong power and to verify that all systems are working correctly. Box stock engines generally gain three to four tenths from our process. Additional gains come from optimized cam selection and better matched flow between carb, head, and block using our flow bench.

Assembly & Accessories

For final assembly, all surfaces and clearances are prepared for long-term dependability. When customers order accessories, we install the exhaust system, engine mount, clutch, catch can, and chain guard the correct way. Proper installation is critical because poor installation of these parts can cause performance loss. We ensure the angle alignment and clearances are all correct so you get full potential from your package.

(If you add a clutch to your order, we blueprint it before installation. Engagement is set for a clean, consistent curve that helps you accelerate out of the corner the same way every lap.)

Maintenance Note:

We recommend WD-40 for cleaning your side cover. The side cover is not resistant to harsh chemicals unless it is the OEM orange version.

The steps listed above are the public part of our process. We also apply several internal fine adjustments developed through extensive dyno work and track testing. These additional steps help create engines that are fast, consistent, and dependable for an entire season.

Refer to manual that you receive with your engine for important instructions!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is the engine build sheet required?

A: Because this is a national-level performance build, we tailor the cam profile, carburetor tuning, and internal component selection specifically to your class, racing weight, and home track. We cannot optimize your engine for maximum legal horsepower without these details.

Q: What does the "blueprinting" process involve?

A: Our blueprinting process includes hand-selecting internal components, precision valve work, head decking for optimal chamber volume, and flow-matching the air path from the carburetor to the cylinder head. Other secrets that we do are kept proprietary. Every engine is dyno-verified to ensure it meets our performance standards before shipping.

Q: How should I maintain the side cover on this engine?

A: We recommend using WD-40 for cleaning the side cover. Please avoid harsh chemicals, as the side cover is not resistant to them unless it is the OEM orange version.

Q: Can I have accessories like a clutch or mount installed before shipping?

A: No, special request only. For shipping reasons we normally do not install the exhuast. If you order accessories, we can install them for you to help ensure proper angle alignment and clearances to prevent performance loss, but only for locals. If you add a clutch, we will blueprint it and set the engagement for a consistent power curve. We provide a detailed manual and guide with the engine that will help you with all of this and much more!

Q: Is this engine legal for LO206 racing classes?

A: Yes. All of our modifications and tuning procedures are performed strictly within the Briggs & Stratton LO206 rule structure to ensure your engine remains fully legal for competition.
