Collection: Starters (Electric)

Handheld Electric Starters for Kart Racing

Save your shoulder and ensure a reliable start every time with our handheld electric kart starters. Designed for 4-cycle engines (LO206, Animal, Clone, and Honda), these heavy-duty external starters provide the high-torque cranking power needed to fire up your engine on the grid or in the pits without pulling a cord.

Burris Starters

The industry standard. Burris Electric Starters are built in the USA and feature a massive high-torque motor capable of cranking high-compression engines with ease. Uses a standard 5/16" hex tip.

Coleman Starters

The Coleman Super Mini offers a compact, gear-driven design that is lighter to carry but packs enough punch for most 4-cycle applications.

Why Use an External Starter?

  • Consistency: Eliminates the struggle of pull-starting cold engines or flooded carburetors.
  • Safety: Allows a mechanic or parent to start the kart safely from the side while the driver is seated.
  • Durability: These units are rebuildable. We stock replacement solenoids, hex tips, and batteries to keep your starter running for years.
🏁 Tech Note: Starter Nuts

These starters typically use a 5/16" Allen Tip (Hex). Ensure your engine's crankshaft nut is compatible. Most LO206 and Animal engines require a specialized starter nut cup or extended nut for the starter to engage.

Note: Starters with integrated battery boxes require a 12V battery (sold separately or included depending on the kit selected). Always keep your battery charged between heats for maximum cranking amps.
