2026 Briggs 206 Rulebook Updates & Changes

2026 Rule Set Summary

Effective Date: January 31, 2026 • Version 2026.1.1

The official 2026 Briggs & Stratton 206 Rule Set has been released. The most significant change for this year is the unification of the US and Canadian rules. Below is a detailed summary of administrative and technical changes.

1 North American Rules Unification

New Section 2: Canadian Eligibility

The US and Canadian rulesets are now combined into a single document.

  • The special "Canadian Embossed Stamp" is no longer required for competition in Canada.
  • Any factory-sealed 206 engine (with orange seals) that meets technical specifications is now eligible for competition in both the US and Canada.
  • Note: Due to the insertion of this new section, all subsequent rule numbers have shifted (e.g., Exhaust Headers moved from Rule 34 to Rule 38).
2 Class Structure & Naming

The Class Structure chart (Section 1) has been updated for clarity regarding naming conventions and slide part numbers.

Item 2025 Rulebook 2026 Update
Masters Class "Briggs & Stratton Masters" "Briggs & Stratton Masters / Legends"
Kid Kart Class "Briggs Kids Kart" "Briggs & Stratton Kid Kart"
Cadet Class "National Briggs Cadet" "Briggs & Stratton Cadet"
Slide IDs Listed by Color/Size Now lists specific Part Numbers (e.g. Yellow #555741)

Added Note: "Locking cap and carburetor cap MUST be tight."

3 Technical Specification Changes

Exhaust Headers (Section 38):

  • The cautionary note regarding the RLV EXF5520 pipe has been removed. It is now fully approved alongside the 5507 and 5511.

Rocker Cover Fastener (Section 31):

  • This rule has been tightened. It previously stated the bolt closest to the carb was "non-tech." It now states it may be replaced only with a sanctioning body provided bolt for mandated sealing.

Fuel Pump (Section 18):

  • Added explicit text: "It is prohibited to pulse from the intake manifold."

Ignition / Coils (Section 34):

  • The mandatory use of the Black Coil (4,150 RPM Limiter) has been moved specifically to the Kid Kart class definition.
