Universal Mounting Hardware for Karting: Airbox Cradles, Tube Clamps & Exhaust Brackets

Once your engine is bolted down and your camera is filming, the rest of the kart is held together by a constellation of small parts: airbox cradles, exhaust pipe brackets, frame clamps, tube clamps for accessory tubing, and the springs and grommets that isolate everything from vibration. Odenthal Racing builds a universal hardware family that covers all of it - Briggs LO206, Rotax Max, IAME X30, KT100, sprint, oval, dirt, you name it.

The Three Tube Diameter Tiers You Will Encounter
Every clamp in the universal family is sized for a specific tube diameter range. Karting hardware basically lives in three tiers:
- Small accessory tubing (16-25mm): radiator hangers, secondary brake line guides, fuel filter brackets, small accessory tabs. Use the Universal Tube Clamp 16-25mm.
- Medium accessory tubing (16-25mm + arm): when you need to extend something off a tube - mount a side mirror, hold an exhaust silencer in place, build a fairing brace. Use the Universal Tube Clamp with Arm.
- Main frame rails (28-32mm): the load-bearing chassis tubes on every sprint kart. Use the Universal Frame Clamp 28-32mm.
The naming convention matches the dimension ranges, so once you measure the tube you are clamping to, the right product is obvious.
Airbox Mounting: The Two-Part System
4-cycle classes that require an airbox (basically all LO206, Animal, and World Formula racing) need a way to mount the airbox to the frame without rigid-coupling it. The vibration from the engine will eventually crack a directly-bolted airbox. Odenthal uses a sprung cradle approach.
Step 1 - the cradle. The Universal Airbox Cradle Assembly is the curved aluminum shell that holds a standard 2-7/16 inch airbox. It includes the rubber grommet seat that isolates the airbox body from the cradle metal.
Step 2 - the mounting kit. The Universal Airbox Mounting Kit is the spring-and-bracket hardware that ties the cradle to a frame clamp. The included spring lets the airbox flex slightly under engine vibration without transmitting that vibration into the airbox body.
Step 3 - the frame clamp. The cradle and mounting kit need something to bolt to. That is where the Universal Frame Clamp 28-32mm comes in. Pick the side of the chassis where you want the airbox, clamp on, attach the mounting kit, and drop the cradle in.
Replacement consumables: the spring eventually fatigues and the rubber grommet hardens with heat. We stock both as standalone parts:
Exhaust Pipe Mounting: 2-Cycle and 4-Cycle
2-cycle exhaust pipes (Rotax Max, IAME X30, KT100, KA100) are heavy. They cantilever off the cylinder head and need a support bracket about halfway down the pipe to keep the cylinder studs from flexing. The Odenthal universal pipe mount cradle is the standard solution.
- Universal Pipe Mount Cradle Assembly - the cradled bracket that wraps the pipe.
- Spring for Airbox or Exhaust Mount - same spring as the airbox kit; attaches the cradle to the frame.
- Universal Frame Clamp 28-32mm - clamps the spring-side of the assembly to the frame rail.

Bolt-in compatible with the OEM hardware - if your existing arm is bent, cracked at the weld, or just cosmetically faded from years of laps, swap it.
Bumper Safety: The EZBR Rear Clamp System
Most sprint kart classes now require a CIK-style rear bumper that is held on with a sliding safety clamp instead of fixed bolts. The reason: in a rear-impact crash, the bumper has to break away cleanly so it does not flex the chassis or trap the next driver's wheel. Fixed bolts cause secondary damage. Sliding clamps release.
The EZBR Rear Bumper Safety Clamp System is Odenthal's implementation of that breakaway design. It is the same hardware that runs at KRA, OVKA, Indy Karting, and the PRO AM Championships. If you are racing a CIK-rules sprint class and your existing rear bumper hardware is fixed-bolt, swapping to the EZBR is usually a tech-inspection requirement, not a luxury.

Why "Universal" Hardware Matters in Karting
Sprint kart chassis change every season. Manufacturers update their bodywork hardware, exhaust hangers, and accessory mounts on a rolling basis, and OEM replacement parts go out of stock fast. Universal mount hardware sidesteps that problem entirely - any LO206, Rotax Max, IAME X30, or KT100 racer can use the same Odenthal cradle, clamp, and spring family. When the spring fatigues in three years, you replace one spring, not the entire OEM exhaust hanger assembly.
It also makes your trailer simpler. Instead of stocking model-specific brackets for two or three karts, one set of universal clamps and cradles covers the whole fleet. Most of our customers running multiple karts (rental fleets, kid kart plus senior, two LO206 brothers) consolidate to the universal Odenthal hardware for exactly that reason.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the 28-32mm frame clamp fit a 25mm tube?
No - 25mm is below the clamp's design range. Use the Universal Tube Clamp 16-25mm for tubing in the 16-25mm window.
Do I need separate springs for airbox vs exhaust?
No, the same universal spring works for both. It is the same part Odenthal ships in their airbox mounting kit and their pipe mount cradle assembly.
Are the rubber grommets sized for a specific airbox?
The Odenthal grommet is sized for the standard 2-7/16 inch airbox interface, which is what almost every 4-cycle airbox in karting uses. If you have a 1.25 inch airbox (older Briggs flathead setup), the grommet still fits the cradle but you may need to add a thin rubber pad on the inside of the airbox body for a tight fit.
Why do I need a frame clamp AND a mounting kit for the airbox?
The frame clamp grips the chassis tube. The mounting kit (spring plus brackets) ties the cradle to the clamp with the vibration-isolating spring in between. They are separate parts because the frame clamp size depends on your chassis (28mm vs 30mm vs 32mm), but the mounting kit and cradle are universal across all clamp sizes.
